More About Kate
I am a graduate of The George Washington University with a B.A. in Journalism and a minor in English. I also have an M.A. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Louisville. I was born and raised in Levittown, PA and currently call Chapel Hill, NC home. In between, I lived in Washington, D.C., Louisville, KY, and Florence, Italy, each for four years. My 20s and 30s were a time of constant exploration and adventure. Nowadays, I’m a bit of a homebody.
I’ve previously worked in magazine publishing, marketing, and owned a consulting business. For the last decade, I’ve worked in higher education IT administration at one of the nation’s top public universities. I love tech, even when it tries to drive me crazy. View my CV.
Once my kids are asleep, my nights are spent doing two things I love the most: reading and writing. I’ve just launched a brand new weekly Substack, Put it On the List, that you can subscribe to, and my debut novel is tentatively slated for release in Summer 2025 🎉.
When I’m not in a busy writing season, my husband and I spend our nights watching college sports (Go Heels!) and “old” TV series that we can watch from series start to finish.

Tell me about Italy!
Pregnant on the Ponte Vecchio in 2012.
My husband and I ran our IT consulting business from stunning Florence, Italy, for nearly four years (2011 - 2014). It was as dreamy and inspirational as you imagine.
We planned to live abroad for just one year but stayed for four. The Italian lifestyle was a perfect match for us! We left Italy with the best souvenirs ever: our daughter Livia (now 11 years old) and lifelong friendships with the people we met. We returned home so my husband could attend law school and I could return to work in higher education.
Fun fact: we were on an episode of House Hunters International in 2011. We’re basically famous 😉.
